Remember that photograph in Back to the Future? The one that started to change because Marty went back in time and changed how he acted and how things played out?
Lets all imagine these youngsters we coach as being a name in a news headline years from now. A headline that reads,
"______ just received their first collegiate offer!"
"______ scored 4 touchdowns and rushed for 187 yards in the State HS championship game!"
"______ won a scholar athlete achievement award for good citizenship!"
What can we instill today that ensures that athlete's name goes in that blank years from now? How do the right and wrong choices today effect this future headline?
What we do today makes an IMPACT on who we become tomorrow. ... See more

We are different. Granted.
We don't always walk out there with the 10 best athletes and we don't always walk away with the trophy. Sometimes it can seem confusing to outsiders- heck, sometimes people internally question what really is this "process". A process, or the trusting of a process, is about a patience and belief that improvement is the end game. Its about once one ladder is climbed an athlete has to move to the next ladder to keep moving forward. Its about trusting athletes without hurting the team. Its about trusting the team without hurting the athlete. Its a feel thing, not always easy to explain. Love this quote just sent to me by one of our Impact parents who is also a coach of several of the Impact athletes in a rec flag league.
"I’ve seen a ton of growth in these players in just over a month of 7s. I mean let’s face it, to really look perfect out there it takes 2 or 3 seasons with the same personnel typically. At that point things become instinctive and habitual. It really is about the process. Thanks for everything! I can say for sure that I see a different level of toughness, speed, and instinct across all the other sports and other teams and other leagues we simultaneously play in. Yesterday after one of our games one of the parents commented to one of our parents in the parking lot, they asked if our team have been playing together since they were like two years old." ... This is a metaphor for you rising to the challenge.
You left your comfort zone and trusted the idea of working hard to focus on a longer-term goal that would challenge you towards your future as a HS tackle football player.
Now here you are, not even 13-years old and the MLB ENFORCER on our TI 14U 7s squad, continually to refine your skillset. Here you are going up at the highest point to snag a pick in our game Saturday. This was one of our best plays of the day. The boys you competed against were 1-2 years older.
We know that if you played youth tackle some coach would've stuck you on the line, having dreams of watching you balloon up, destroy your young knees and block for their son the RB while they lived out their state championship goals... and you'd have lost that motivation to be a player of skill.
We don't need their way. We do it our way. You'll be ready. Just stay being you. Keep trusting and grinding.
